Our Purpose

Keeping the Profession Informed

Pharmaciae exists to keep registered persons, students, and members of the public up to date with matters that affect the practice, education, and regulation of pharmacy in South Africa. Every issue is developed under the guidance of the Office of the Registrar and reviewed before publication.

  • Quarterly PublicationNew issues are released roughly every quarter, with special editions around the National Pharmacy Conference.
  • Written for Everyone in PharmacyContent spans pharmacists, pharmacy support personnel, students, and the patients they serve.
  • Council-ReviewedEvery article passes through the Office of the Registrar before it reaches the profession.

Who We Serve

Beyond the Pharmacy Counter

While Pharmaciae is written primarily for registered persons, its reach extends to the patients and families who depend on the profession every day. Regulatory changes, public health campaigns, and safety notices published in Pharmaciae ultimately shape the care every South African receives, whether in a pharmacy, a clinic, or at their own kitchen table.

Members of the public are welcome to read every issue, and are encouraged to do so whenever a notice affects their own health decisions.

Governance

The Office of the Registrar

Pharmaciae is produced under the direction of the Office of the Registrar at the South African Pharmacy Council.

Members of the Office of the Registrar

Council continues to strengthen the regulatory framework that protects the public and supports registered persons in delivering safe, quality pharmaceutical care across South Africa, from the smallest rural pharmacy to the country’s largest hospital groups.

“Advancing pharmacy means advancing the standard of care every patient can expect, wherever they are in South Africa.”
