Approved Courses and Providers

Members of the public and the profession are advised that, as at August 2026, the below list constitute the only approved providers of pharmacy education and training, and the courses approved/accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council.

Approved Providers and Courses

In terms of Section 34 of the Pharmacy Act, 53 of 1974, the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) is responsible for approving pharmacy education/training programmes and institutions. No person or institution may provide pharmacy education and training without being approved by the SAPC. As at August 2026, the profession and members of the public are advised that the tables below enlist the only approved providers of pharmacy education and training as well as the approved/accredited courses. BACHELOR OF PHARMACY

The SAPC has approved nine (9) institutions of higher learning to provide the Bachelor of Pharmacy in South Africa. The qualification is a professional degree pitched at NQF Level 8 on the Higher Education Qualification Sub-framework (HEQSF).

PHARMACY SUPPORT QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are accredited/approved by Council:

• National Certificate: Pharmacist Assistance (currently in the teach-out period till 30 June 2027);

• Further Education Training Certificate: Pharmacist Assistance (currently in the teach-out period till 30 June 2027);

• Pharmacist’s Assistant (Basic) part qualification of Occupational Certificate: Pharmacy Technician;

• Pharmacist’s Assistant (Post-Basic) part qualification of Occupational Certificate: Pharmacy Technician; and

• Occupational Certificate: Pharmacy Technician.

SHORT COURSES

The SAPC has also approved the following providers and short courses, as at August 2026.
